Minister of Justice Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir says that the cyber attack that was carried out on Árvakur’s computer system on Sunday was a major topic at the government’s meeting yesterday. She believes that attacks of this kind are part of war and that democracies be united on the watch and stand firm against certain forces.

Árvakur Hit by Major Cyber Attack
Árvakur, the publisher of Morgunblaðið, experienced an overwhelming cyber attack on most networked systems on Sunday, resulting in a large amount of data being effectively taken hostage by encryption. The news site mbl.is is still up and running, and Morgunblaðið has been published on schedule.

Lived in a yurt for nine years
Þóra Sólveig Bergsteinsdóttir and her husband, Erwin van der Werve, offer tourists a place to stay in a so-called Yurt or shelter tent from Mongolia in Leifsstaðir in Eyjafjardarsveit. They lived in such a tent in the countryside for many years, but they built one in the Netherlands.

The mainstream of lava flow from the eruption at Sundhnúkagígar crater row appears to be moving towards the defense wall at Svartsengi, but the previous night it flowed eastwards from the crater.

Cooling lava resumed above Svartsengi
The civil defense coordination center was activated last night when three lava tongues started moving over the defense wall at a similar location to Tuesday, above Svartsengi. About 35 firefighters were in the area, as well as contractors working on bulldozers. The fire chief in Grindavík says the work is a co-production of work equipment and water.

Firemen attempt to cool the lava with water
Yesterday lava was about to flow over the defense wall close to Svartsengi. It was decided to cool the lava and the Grindavík Fire Department, along with other emergency responders, started for the operation around dinner time yesterday.
