Reykjanes enters “a new phase”The earthquake swarm to the southwest of Keilir continues. A sharp magnitude 3.5 quake was felt by many in the southwest just before 14.00 and geophysicist Páll Einarsson says it could be a sign that a new volcanic eruption is imminent. However, he says it could equally be a sign that the existing eruption at nearby Fagradalsfjall is ending. more

Autumn storm killed sheepA large number of sheep died in this week’s storm and one farmer in the Strandir area of the Westfjords lost around 60 animals to the very early autumn snowfall. Farmers in Húnavatnssýsla and in the Westfjords needed to dig hundreds of sheep out of snowdrifts. more
