Iceland Airwaves postponed againThe Iceland Airwaves music festival will not go ahead this November as planned. It is being postponed for one year, for the second year in a row. A statement from organisers says that the current assembly limits in place prevent the sort of stand-up, multi-venue event that Iceland Airwaves is, and that organisers are devastated at having to postpone yet again. more

No covid patients in intensive care54 positive COVID-19 tests were processed domestically yesterday, including roughly half from people already in quarantine. It was the fourth day in a row when more non-vaccinated people than vaccinated tested positive. 84 percent of over-12-year-olds are fully vaccinated. Only ten people are now in hospital with the coronavirus—none of whom are in intensive care, for the first time since late July. more

Small glacial flood so farThe jökulhlaup glacial flood in Skaftá river, southeast Iceland, which started yesterday, has been fairly stable, though the flow rate and height of the river have increased even more since yesterday evening. Flow in the smaller Eldvatn river has more than doubled and its level is up by more than a metre at Eystri Ásar. more

the fifth fissure opening
that opened in the area on the
13th of
April.
Since the 27th of
April, the volcanic activity was characterized
by continuous lava
fountains, while the
activity changed at around midnight on
the 2nd of
May,
and has since been
showing pulsating behaviour. Considering these
changes in activity, the size of the hazard area at the eruption site is being
re-evaluated. more
