The Reykjavík Jazz Festival is back for 2026, coming to the capital from August 25.

Whale swims just off capital coastline

A humpback whale went swimming in the sea just off Reykjavík's coastline between Sólfarið and Harpa yesterday, attracting considerable attention.

Katrín Georgsdóttir, environmental and quality manager at Elding whale-watching company, says whales do sometimes come this close to shore, but it is not common.

Laundry room battle in court for fourth time

A dispute between residents of a building in Kársnes in Kópavogur reached the courts last week, and not for the first time. It was the fourth time the neighbours' dispute had been considered by Icelandic courts.
