New bridge over Breiðholtsbraut opens tomorrow morning

A new bridge over Breiðholtsbraut between Jaðarsel in Reykjavík and Vatnsendahvarf in Kópavogur will open tomorrow morning. Vegagerðin say the road will be closed tonight while work is carried out to prepare for the traffic switch.

Populists and racists cannot be allowed to 'redefine role of Icelandic flag'

The Minister of Industry says it is sad to watch people turn the Icelandic flag into a symbol of division and hostility towards certain groups, and says this development must be resisted.

Hanna Katrín Friðriksson, Minister of Industry, writes on Facebook that the Icelandic flag has from the beginning been a unifying symbol of a nation that stands at the forefront when it comes to freedom, equality and respect for human rights.

Weekend heatwave for north and east

This weekend, an area of high pressure between Iceland and Britain will direct warm south-westerly winds towards the country, bringing high temperatures to north and east Iceland. There, it will be dry and bright, with temperatures up to 25.

Icelandic gaming host laments end of physical discs
