Iceland introduces tuition fees for students outside the EEA

Starting next year students outside the EEA will have to pay full tuition. The Rector of the University of Iceland expects a significant decrease in applications.

Just in time for summer recess the Icelandic parliament passed a bill that allows public universities to charge tuition fees for students from outside the EEA, with the exception of the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Switzerland.

Additional agricultural convention due to the referendum

An additional agricultural convention will be held in August due to the rerendum on reopening EU negotiations. The convention will conclude on the findings of a report on the impact of a membership of the European Union on Icelandic agriculture.

At the agricultural convention in March, it was decided to appoint a committee to analyze the impact of both the accession negotiations and a membership of the EU on Icelandic agriculture.

Wage negotiations end without conclusion
