RÚV English Radio - VIOLIN, TRUMPET AND PIANO: HÓLAR, REYKJAVÍK, SELFOSS

Katherine Gilger, David Dash and Michael Spiroff will bring their violin, trumpet, and piano, to a series of concerts in Iceland, starting this Sunday (June 14).

The programme features a piece composed by Michael, as well as a work by Icelandic composer Jórunn Viðar.

New pastor for Icelandic congregation in Denmark

Reverend Guðni Már Harðarson, pastor at Lindakirkja, has been appointed pastor to the Icelandic congregation in Denmark and Iceland’s embassy pastor in Copenhagen.

Guðni has been prominent in church and youth work for years, served at Lindakirkja for 18 years and been involved in the popular children’s programme Daginn í dag as a scriptwriter and driving force.

Says her daughter 'wanted to die first'

Ming Ting Mancel, who is charged with killing her daughter together with her husband at the Edition hotel last year, says her daughter actively took part in her own death. She says her daughter told her parents that she would want to die first.

Resident group: government stance against Grindavík rebuilding 'hostile'

Járngerður, the residents’ interest group on the future and reconstruction of Grindavík, agrees with the newly elected Grindavík town council, which says the government’s stance towards the swift rebuilding of the town is negative and hostile.

Krabbameinsfélagið (Icelandic Cancer Society) awarded ISK 118 million in grants for 13 studies

On average, 2,055 individuals are diagnosed with cancer each year and 1 in 3 Icelanders develop cancer during their lifetime. Vísindasjóður Krabbameinsfélagsins has awarded grants every year since 2017 to promote progress in cancer research.

Over ten years, the fund has awarded 119 grants totalling ISK 774 million. This year, the fund’s total grant allocation was the largest ever, at ISK 118 million, and thirteen grants were […] more
