Pilots reviewing Icelandair’s latest proposal
Icelandair pilots are currently reviewing the proposals presented by the airline at a mediation meeting held the night before last. State Mediator Ástráður Haraldsson says he does not expect any significant developments in the dispute before next week. more

Two farms see sextuplet lambs

Sextuplet lambs were born on two farms in east Iceland this spring - Hafranes near Reyðarfjörður and Klaustursel in Jökuldalur. This came as a surprise to farmers on both farms.

Lambs being carried are counted by ultrasound in early spring, and those familiar with the matter say it is almost impossible to count six.

MAST issues mussel picking warning

Toxic algae were detected in large quantities in the sea in Faxaflói and south of Iceland during Hafrannsóknastofnun's (Marine and Freshwater Research Institute) spring expedition.

Matvælastofnun (Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority) therefore warns the public against picking and eating mussels from shores in south and south-west Iceland, whether in Hvalfjörður or other popular places for mussel picking.

Authorities 'using property company' to delay Grindavík rebuild

Grindavík town council says the authorities are deliberately using Fasteignafélagið Þórkatla (Þórkatla property company) to delay the town’s reconstruction and prevent families from being able to return home.

The claim comes in a statement from Grindavík town council, which met the property company on Wednesday.
