Margot Gamm (1931–2007) enriched the cultural life of Hornafjörður with her artistic talent, and her teaching.

The first retrospective exhibition of Margot's works runs at Gamlabúð in Höfn throughout the summer. The art pieces in the exhibition are all owned by her descendants, her children and grandchildren.

Áslaug quits Alþingi: “Let’s see what happens”

Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, outgoing MP for Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn (Independence Party), says she has not made a decision on what comes next after resigning as an MP today.

Áslaug announced at a parliamentary sitting today that she intended to resign as an MP. The announcement was fairly unexpected because Áslaug has been on study leave for the past year and returned to her seat in Alþingi (Parliament) today.

Ministers decline to comment on labor dispute
There appears to be no progress in the labor dispute between Icelandair pilots and the airline, and no mediation meeting has been scheduled. The Prime Minister has declined to comment on the ongoing labor dispute between Icelandair and its pilots while the matter remains unresolved. more

Driving Licence Rules Eased for Older Motorists in Iceland
Drivers in Iceland will no longer be required to provide a medical certificate automatically when renewing their driving licence from the age of 65, following regulatory changes introduced by Infrastructure Minister Eyjólfur Ármannsson. Major Hafnarfjörður road closes tonight

Fjarðarhraun will be completely closed between Hafnarfjarðarvegur and Reykjanesbraut tonight (Wednesday), from 7pm, until 3am tomorrow.

Information signs will be put up and diversions will be marked. The diversion is via Reykjavíkurvegur and Fjarðargata.

Driver caught on studded tyres

The capital area police dealt with a number of drivers for traffic offences yesterday evening and overnight.

One driver was charged with driving on studded tyres. Studded tyres are legal from 1 November to 14 April. It is therefore just over a month and a half since this driver should have changed tyres.
