200 earthquakes recorded since last night
Around 150 earthquakes have been recorded 8–10 kilometers southwest of Reykjanestá since a seismic swarm began shortly after 9 p.m. last night, according to Bjarki Kaldalóns Friis, natural hazard specialist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, speaking to mbl.is. more

Teaching material provision cut 'for decades'

Funding for the development and purchase of teaching materials in the Icelandic school system has declined significantly over 20 years, says Íris E. Holiday Monday Hvalfjörður tunnel closure reminder

People planning to travel over the long weekend and into Monday's holiday, may need to bear in mind the renewal of lighting equipment in Hvalfjörður tunnel as the weekend progresses.

The tunnel is closed five nights a week. It will be open for the next two nights, over the weekend, but closed [as usual on this work schedule] to traffic overnight from Monday into Tuesday.
