Yrkja's first concert is at 8pm tomorrow, May 21, at the capital's Advent Church.
Yrkja was founded last year as a sister ensemble to the male vocal group Kyrja, and is under the artistic direction of Sólveig Sigurðardóttir and Philip Barkhudarov.

On June 1 Alessandro Tazartes and Luis Sáenz Pombo, graduates of UWC Atlantic College Class of ‘25, will leave Reykjavik to cycle around Iceland's full Ring Road, a distance of 1,332 kilometres in 18 days.
Their goal is to raise four UWC scholarships to provide four young people, an Icelandic student and three students whose lives have been affected by war, with a UWC education that would otherwise be financially out of reach.

Sævar Guðjónsson, who runs the tourist service at Mjóeyri by Eskifjörður and has worked as a reindeer guide, was astonished when a reindeer bull swam out into Eskifjörður earlier this week.
Sævar believes the animal was swimming for around an hour, and says he has never seen such swimming prowess from reindeer.

The Monetary Policy Committee of Seðlabanki Íslands (Central Bank of Iceland) has decided to raise the bank’s interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. The policy rate therefore rises from 7.50% to 7.75%.
In its statement, the Monetary Policy Committee refers to the fact that inflation has been above 5% so far this year and that inflation expectations have risen, especially in the short term.
