As usual, the music festival Aldrei fór ég suður will take place in Ísafjörður this weekend. This is the 22nd time it has been held, and performers include Skítamórall, Friðrik Dór and Sykur.

The town's Örlygur Hnefill Örlygsson is a previous guest on RÚV English Radio, as owner of the Eurovision Song Contest Exhibition, and co-founder of Film Húsavík, making use of repurposed equipment from former TV channel N4.

A variety of yellow weather alerts will activate across much of Iceland on Thursday. They warn of snow storms and severe gale force winds.

Icelandair wants Fly Play Europe’s air operator certificate

Representatives of Icelandair have signed a letter of intent to begin negotiations on the purchase of a 49% stake in Fly Play Europe. The company was established by Play shortly before that airline went bankrupt and holds an air operator certificate in Malta.

Fly Play Europe is owned by investors and pension funds.

Stormy weather and poor driving conditions ahead of holiday

Driving conditions could deteriorate widely across the country later as south-easterly strong winds or a storm hit. There will be snow or rain overnight and tomorrow.

Those in the west of the country can expect calm conditions today, while it will be much windier in the east. Isolated snow showers are expected in many areas, but it will be mostly dry in the east.
