High hopes for Síminn in media market

The chair of Blaðamannafélag Íslands (Association of Icelandic Journalists) says they hope Síminn intends to pursue major ambitions in the media market with the planned purchase of Sýn’s media outlets. It would be negative for society to lose Sýn’s television news, if that were to happen, and it is a misconception to think of television news as something from a bygone era.

Yellow weather alerts across west of Iceland

Warnings of strong wind become active across South Iceland and Faxaflói at 6pm today, Thursday.

There are already alerts in force across Northwest Iceland, the Westfjords, and Breiðafjörður, for snow storms and blizzards.

Minister wants to increase maximum sentence for copyright offences

Union: fuel companies' markup is historically high

The Viska trade union says the oil companies have increased their markup over the past five years, and that it is now historically high.
