'No satisfactory city explanation' for school work stop

Reykjavíkurborg (City of Reykjavík) terminated its collaboration with the contractor at Ölduselsskóli school on Wednesday of last week. The contractor stopped work the same day and removed all safety equipment.

The school was closed yesterday as staff did not feel able to work under the conditions that had arisen and five hundred children stayed at home.

Stranger Things puts Háifoss on the map

Iceland's former PM Davíð Oddsson has died

Davíð Oddsson, former Prime Minister and editor of Morgunblaðið newspaper, hasdied. Davíð passed away at his home yesterday at the age of 78.

Davíð was born in Reykjavík on 17 January 1948. His parents were Oddur Ólafsson, a doctor, and Ingibjörg Kristín Lúðvíksdóttir.

Strong winds and blizzards hit the east
