The Alþingi investigation committee regarding the Súðavík avalanche on 16 January 1995, has completed its work.
The committee was appointed on the basis of a resolution of Alþingi on 30 April 2024. It was tasked with shedding light on the decisions and procedures of the authorities in the lead-up to the avalanche and afterwards.

A man in his twenties has been remanded in custody for one week, on the basis of ongoing investigations into a manslaughter in a private home on Kársnes in Kópavogur last week.
The man had previously been in custody, the order for which then expired, and he was subsequently released.
