The two-day state visit of President Halla Tómasdóttir and her husband, Björn Skúlason, to Finland begins today. The visit is at the invitation of Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb.
The Finnish presidential couple will formally welcome the Icelandic presidential couple to Finland at 10 am at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki. The presidents will meet in the palace, followed by a press conference.

Two people were flown from Grundarfjörður to Landspítali [hospital, Reykjavík] by the Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter yesterday evening, after a bus carrying 42 foreign tourists overturned on Snæfellsnes.
The bus left the road in Seljafjörður, inland from Hraunsfjörður on Snæfellsnes, around 6 pm, and came to rest upside down.

Residents of Grindavík are waiting for answers on whether the state will fund the raising of the defensive wall north of the town, which experts say must be done before the next eruption.
A team of engineers designing the defences around Grindavík sent a memo to the Ministry of Justice in the spring, recommending that the northern section of the barrier be raised by 2-3 metres along a 450-metre stretch.
