Guided tour in easy-to-understand Icelandic at Reykjavík Museum of Photography

The Reykjavík City Museum offers a guided tour of the Reykjavík Museum of Photography for people who are learning Icelandic. The tour will take place on Saturday, 20 September from 14:00 to 15:00.

Katleen Abbeel will lead the tour in easy-to-understand Icelandic.

The tour will focus on the exhibition "Half a Century Through the Lens" featuring photographs by Gunnar V. Andrésson, a press photographer.

Winter blows in to Iceland

Cool northerly winds will prevail across the country today. In North Iceland snow showers can be expected on the mountain passes.

Slippery patches are reported on Holtavörðuheiði, and conditions are slippery on Öxnadalsheiði, Fljótsheiði, Mývatnsheiði, Mývatnsöræfi, Biskupsháls, Háreksstaðaleið and Vopnafjarðarheiði this morning, according to the Icelandic Road Administration’s website.

Car overturned in icy conditions on Öxnadalsheiði

A driver overturned his car on Öxnadalsheiði this morning.

Heimir Heiðarsson, duty officer with the police in Akureyri, said the accident was caused by icy conditions.

The driver was alone in the car and escaped with minor injuries.

According to Vegagerðin (Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration), roads are extremely icy on Öxnadalsheiði.

Major delays to Höfn nursing home

At the Skjólgarður nursing home there will be good facilities with 30 single rooms - that is, once the new extension is completed and alterations to the older building are finished.

The house has now been wrapped in a so-called weather cover with blowers used to dry it, after moisture was measured in the outer walls after rainstorms.

Mohamad has been held at Litla-Hraun prison as well as at Hólmsheiði prison. It was recently announced that prisoner Mohamad Th. Jóhannesson [formerly Mohamad Kourani] will be deported once his prison sentence ends in 2028, after he relinquished his claim to international protection. more
