Iceland remains world's most peaceful nation

Iceland remains the most peaceful country in the world, according to the 2025 Global Peace Index (GPI).

It recorded a two per cent improvement in overall peacefulness over the past year as only one of the country's indicators deteriorated: that of military expenditure (% GDP).

Ólafur Austmann’s siblings are asking everyone in the vicinity of Bulgaria’s capital to keep an eye out for him. Police in Bulgaria are searching for Ólafur Austmann, an Icelandic man in his fifties, who has not been seen since August 18. more

Icelandair flights to Höfn underway: good news for Ísafjörður?

Icelandair today took over domestic flights to Hornafjörður. The company’s Dash 8 200 aircraft landed at Hornafjörður Airport this morning, which serves Höfn.

Futhermore, increased use of the aircraft raises the likelihood that Icelandair will continue to operate them on flights to Ísafjörður.

'Unacceptable disrespect' by minister
It is unacceptable that the minister of local government affairs, who is responsible for relations between the state and municipalities, shows municipal councils such disrespect as to ignore unanimous and long-standing demands for prioritisation of projects.

Radiographers say task force overly focused on 'short-term solutions'

Nothing addresses the root of the problem of understaffing at the radiotherapy ward of Landspítali in the proposals of the health minister’s task force, says a statement from the board of Félag geislafræðinga.

The minister appointed the task force to submit proposals for improvements because the waiting time for cancer radiotherapy has doubled.
