Hamraborg Festival is a week-long celebration of art and community in the heart of Kópavogur.

Taking place annually at the end of August, marks the end of summer with exhibitions, performances, workshops, and public events - all free and open to everyone.

Darren spoke to co-curator Jo Pawlowska, and exhibiting artist Boaz Yosef Friedman.

"If you intend to do this then immediately offer the service you say you intend to provide"

Landowners at Leirhnjúkur in Mývatnssveit decided last summer to stop charging for access to the area, because the condition of the footpaths was poor and in places dangerous. They also said it was not acceptable for landowners to bear the full, upfront cost of maintenance and repair.

This spring however, it was decided to restart work. The car park and some footpaths were repaired - and charging for access was resumed.

Climate Change Linked to Subsiding Langjökull Glacial Flood
A glacial outburst flood from Hafrafellslón lagoon has subsided, with water levels in the Hvítá river now back to pre-flood conditions, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office. Hafrafellslón glacial flood almost completely subsided

The jökulhlaup (glacial outburst flood from Hafrafellslón has subsided greatly since the night before last. The average flow in the river Hvítá in Borgarfjörður is now the same as before the flood, which began on Friday.

Woman in Þorlákshöfn case denies knowledge of plans

A woman charged with involvement in deprivation of liberty and robbery in the so-called Þorlákshöfn case says her only role was to phone the victim and insists she did not know that he was going to be deprived of his liberty.

A man from Þorlákshöfn was found dead in Gufunes in March after being deprived of his liberty and subjected to serious violence. The main trial of five defendants in the case began today.

Strange vessel arrives in Iceland
Tara Polar Station sailing through a channel in the ice. An unusual ship has docked in Ísafjörður: the floating research station Tara Polar Station, which has been undergoing trials in the Arctic Ocean, arrived on Saturday. Ísafjörður residents will not be the only ones to see the odd-looking vessel; according to a written statement from the Tara Ocean Foundation, which operates the station, Tara Polar Station is scheduled to arrive in Reykjavík on the morning of September 3.
