Opus, which provides work and activity for people with disabilities, is hosting a POP-UP market tomorrow, Saturday 7 June, from 12-5pm.

Heimabakstur.is will bring cakes, three women will bring knitted products, another will sell ceramic pieces, NiMar Arts will be exhibiting paintings, and Opus will be selling their own products too.

Another cold start to summer threatens bird populations

According to Einar Ólafur Þorleifsson, a naturalist at the Northwest Iceland Nature Research Centre, the unusually cold start to June is having a highly negative impact on bird populations, especially since this is the second consecutive year of such conditions.

May 2025 the warmest in Iceland’s recorded history

A long stretch of stable, sunny weather produced the strongest May heatwave ever recorded in Iceland. For 11 days, temperatures exceeded 20°C in various parts of the country, and the ground remained snow-free throughout the entire month, both in Reykjavík and Akureyri.
