Previously he studied in Estonia, Finland and the US.

The Metropolitan Police Chief has charged Elissa May Phillips and Anahita Sabaei for their protest aboard Hvalur 8 and Hvalur 9 in 2023. Environmental activists Sahar Babaei and Elissa May Phillips have been formally charged for their protest aboard the whaling ships Hvalur 8 and Hvalur 9 in September 2023. The two women, protesting the operations of Hvalur hf., boarded the vessels without permission and refused to comply with police orders to vacate the premises. more

17 sheep still missing in Skíðadalur

Seventeen of the hundred ewes that were being searched for in Skíðadalur yesterday are still missing. Jón Þórarinsson, a farmer at Hnjúkur and owner of the sheep, says none have yet been found dead. However, he fears that may change as the day goes on. The search is continuing today.

This has been, and still is, very difficult, but we are extremely grateful for all the help we’ve received.

Emphasis on importance of domestic offline payment system

The Central Bank’s Financial Stability Committee reiterates the need to develop a domestic offline payment system. The Bank has previously noted that Iceland is unusual in this regard.

Residents hit bullseye in darts bar battle

Skor, the darts venue on Geirsgata in Reykjavík, is set to leave its current premises and relocate elsewhere in the city centre. The move comes after years of disputes with local residents and repeated refusals to extend its opening hours, most recently by the Environment and Natural Resources Complaints Board in May.

Þorlákshöfn indictment: suspects left man severely injured and helpless

The suspects in the Þorlákshöfn case lured Hjörleifur Haukur Guðmundsson, a 65-year-old man, from his home in Þorlákshöfn and subjected him to brutal violence for five hours, which ultimately led to his death. He was then left half-naked and helpless on a footpath in Gufunes.
