Minister of justice requests documents on spy company's data theft

Þorbjörg Sigríður Gunnlaugsdóttir, minister of justice, has requested documents relating to the data theft carried out by a surveillance company, as reported by RÚV in recent weeks.

During a parliamentary session today, she said the matter should be investigated as a criminal case. She sent a letter to the district prosecutor today requesting explanations and information on procedures relating to the case.

Year-round sledding track the newest attraction in Hlíðarfjall

A kilometre-long sledding track, open throughout the year, will be installed on a new plot below the existing ski area in Hlíðarfjall. The site manager says it is very important to make better use of the area during summer, as most ski resorts around the world are aiming to do nowadays.

Small earthquake swarm near Grjótárvatn this morning

Around ten earthquakes were recorded in a short period near Grjótárvatn in Mýrar this morning. Most of them originated at a depth of approximately 15 to 20 kilometres.

According to the Icelandic Met Office considerable seismic activity began near Grjótárvatn just before 10am.

Increased seismic activity has been recorded in the Ljósufjöll volcanic system since 2021.
