Stóri plokkdagurinn is being held across the country today, and many residents are planning to join cleanup efforts to mark the occasion. The event is organised by Rótarýhreyfingin á Íslandi (the Rotary Movement in Iceland), which has coordinated the day every year since 2018.
Since then, interest has grown significantly – for example, around 8,000 people are now members of the "Plokk á Íslandi" group on Facebook.
