The Civil Defence phase for the Reykjanes peninsula has been lowered from emergency to danger, due to a reduction in seismic activity. Earthquakes in the region are now weaker than yesterday, and intervals between them are increasing.
The National Commissioner of Police, in consultation with the Suðurnes Police Commissioner, has made the decision to downgrade the alert level in light of these developments.

The Stjórnskipunar- og eftirlitsnefnd Alþingis (Parliamentary Constitutional and Supervisory Committee) formally requested on Monday that the Prime Minister’s Office submit all documents related to the case of former Minister of Education and Children, Ásthildur Lóa Þórsdóttir.
The committee is considering a request to specifically investigate an alleged breach of confidentiality by the ministry in connection with the matter.

The heiðlóa, or golden plover’s arrival, traditionally signals the turning of the seasons — and, as the saying goes, that the snow must now melt away.
