A perfect vehicle in the Real World
Daníel Ágúst and Björn Jörundur have worked together since 1987 and work as one man who writes almost all the lyrics for the band's songs. They are extremely happy with Raunheimar. The band Nýdönsk's latest album and fourteenth, Raunheimar (Real World), will be released on Friday, January 31. The band will perform at a release concert in Harpa's Norðurljósasalur at 7 pm on the same day and at a side concert at 10 pm. more

Skaftárstofa is the Vatnajökull National Park visitor centre, located by Kirkjubæjarklaustur on route one.

It serves also as an information centre for Skaftárhreppur municipality.

Both drivers in fatal accident under drug influence

On 13 September 2023, a Volkswagen van collided with a construction vehicle with attached forklift tines, at the intersection of Vonarstræti and Lækjargata.

The van drove directly into the path of the construction vehicle, resulting in the forklift tines penetrating the passenger compartment of the van. The van’s driver, who was alone in the vehicle, suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.

Cocaine 'smuggled in underwear and shoes'

Three foreign nationals—a man and a woman from Colombia and a Spanish man—have been charged with a serious drug-related offence for their involvement in smuggling over two kilograms of cocaine into the country.

The three arrived on a flight from Barcelona on 12 October and were apprehended at Keflavík Airport with the drugs in their possession.

Siglufjörður residents concern over shopping centre plans

Plans for a new shopping centre have divided opinions among the residents of Siglufjörður. Some are calling for a referendum, describing the project as a planning disaster that would overshadow the distinctive charm of the town centre.

Five taken to hospital after two buses collide

Two buses, carrying nearly fifty passengers in total, collided at Gaddstaðaflatir near Hella, in South Iceland, this morning.

According to Sveinn Kristján Rúnarsson, Chief Superintendent of Police in South Iceland, five individuals with minor injuries were transported to the emergency department in Selfoss for examination.
