"The marital bed becomes a battlefield"
The couple are working together on the play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Director Þorleifur Örn Arnarsson and visual artist Erna Mist Yamagata are creating their world in a new home. They met over a year ago and are now working together for the first time on Tennessee Williams’s play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which will premiere at the City Theatre on December 28. The couple is expecting a child in January, but Arnarson has a 13-year-old son from a previous marriage. more

Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Kristrún Frostadóttir, and Inga Sæland. The policy statement of the Coalition of The Social Democratic Alliance, the Liberal Reform Party, and the People's Party was presented in Hafnarfjörður today. A new ministerial structure was presented, with 11 new ministers being introduced. Four come from the the Social Democrats, four from the Liberal Reform Party, and three from the People's Party. more

Strætó starts issuing fines

The fines are aimed at reducing fraud on board buses. Strætó plans to fine passengers in the new year who cannot show a valid fare during inspections. The fine will be 15,000 kr, while it will be 7,500 kr for young people and seniors, and 4,500 kr for people with disabilities.

Next eruption could happen in February

Based on the rate of ground uplift under Svartsengi, scientists estimate that the next eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula could occur in February.

Wednesday marked the one-year anniversary of the first eruption on the Sundhnúksgígar crater row. In that period, seven eruptions have occurred in the area. They have lasted for a total of 114 days.
