All fur farms in the South of Iceland are now ceasing operations as there is no longer an economic basis for the farms. Work is under way to slaughter all breeding animals from the farms.
This is reported in the latest issue of Bændablaðið (the Farmers’ Newspaper).

An agreement has been made on geothermal-water exploration in the vicinity of Vík í Mýrdal to investigate the possibility of establishing a geothermal heating utility to provide heating for the built-up area in Vík in the longer term.
